Oscar Mingueza ‘to decide’ next move next week amid Sunderland and Aston Villa links | OneFootball

Oscar Mingueza, a free agent after leaving Celta Vigo, is poised to settle on his next club soon following links to Sunderland and Premier League interest.

Mirko Di Natale reports that Juventus are no longer in the running and that the 27-year-old plans to choose his destination next week. Sky Sports stated in May that his preference is to move to England.

The defender has been credited with admirers including Aston Villa and Newcastle United, while Atalanta and Como have also been linked.

A La Masia graduate, Mingueza made 66 senior appearances for Barcelona before joining Celta Vigo in summer 2022. He has four caps for Spain.

Primarily a right back, he can operate at left-back and in central defence. Sunderland are expected to reinforce at the back this window after Dennis Cirkin’s departure and amid uncertainty over 2025/26 loanee Lutsharel Geertruida.
