Right-back Pedro Milans is pushing to re-establish himself at Corinthians after minutes dried up under Diniz. According to Meu Timao, the Uruguayan has found opportunities scarce since the coach took charge.

His last appearance came on 21 May, a 1-1 draw with Peñarol in the Libertadores. Before that he had gone more than a month without playing.

Under Diniz he has featured in only two of the 16 matches overseen so far. Ahead of facing his former club, he started the 0-0 draw with Vitória at Estádio Barradão.

During this spell he slipped down the pecking order, with midfielder Raniele filling in at right-back against Vasco da Gama and Mirassol. Now, during the mid-season programme, Milans is competing to be the main alternative to Matheuzinho, amid interest from Europe in the first-choice.

The 24-year-old was signed as immediate cover for Matheuzinho, with no other specialist in the role. Academy graduate Leo Maná has been on loan at Criciúma since last year and is due back in August.

Milans has seven Corinthians appearances, all starts, yielding three wins and four draws for a return of 13 points, a 61.90% haul. With him on the pitch, Corinthians scored seven and conceded two, and he has no goals, bookings or dismissals.
