Leeds United goalkeeper Lucas Perri was voted Hisense Player of the Match by supporters after his heroics in the FA Cup fourth-round victory over Birmingham City at St Andrew’s.

The Brazilian played the full 120 minutes and then proved decisive in the penalty shootout as Leeds edged through 4-2 on spot-kicks following a 1-1 draw after extra time.

Perri earned 56% of the fan vote, finishing well clear of team-mates Ethan Ampadu (12%), Sebastiaan Bornauw (9%) and Jaka Bijol (6%).

Early brilliance sets the tone

Leeds were indebted to Perri as early as the 11th minute when he produced a stunning fingertip save to deny Jay Stansfield. The Birmingham forward looked certain to score, only for Perri to divert his effort on to the post in a moment that underlined his sharp reflexes.

It was the standout moment among four saves across the evening, but far from his only contribution.

Commanding in the air and composed with the ball at his feet, Perri registered one punch and one high claim, while also making four clearances and nine recoveries. He won three duels and contributed four defensive actions, underlining his all-round influence.

Calm under pressure

After 120 demanding minutes, the tie was settled from 12 yards - and once again Perri stepped forward.

With Leeds leading in the shootout, he dived to his right to keep out Tommy Doyle’s penalty, putting the visitors firmly in control before they sealed a 4-2 triumph.

In total, Perri recorded 57 touches and completed 20 passes, in addition to four carries covering 23.2 metres, illustrating his involvement throughout the contest.

His performance ensured Daniel Farke’s side set up a fifth round tie against Norwich City at Elland Road, with supporters were quick to recognise his impact.
