Plata sale collapse hits Flamengo cash flow, budget target in doubt | OneFootball

The collapse of Plata’s R$ 60 million move to Dynamo Moscow has caught Flamengo off guard and will hit cash flow in the second half.

According to Globo.com, club sales now stand at R$ 114.4 million in 2026, well short of the R$ 250 million target. The fee, due upfront, would have been their biggest sale of the year.

Dynamo cited right knee tendinitis in medicals, a diagnosis Flamengo dispute, and with little time to find a new European buyer the forward will be reintegrated. The club is assessing possible action against the Russians.

Despite the setback, Flamengo will not unwind the arrivals of Anthony Valencia and Joaquín Freitas, worth about R$ 76 million, to be paid in instalments over the next three years. The 2026 budget had already allowed spending of 20 to 25 million euros in this window.

Flamengo ended the first half with a R$ 33 million deficit but the board still considers finances comfortable and the aborted sale not material in that context.

The knee complaint was identified by MRI in July. In Russia he underwent two checks and was rejected, and Dynamo have since pursued Independiente striker Maxi Gutiérrez. The club learned of the issue on Monday and a fresh move now looks unlikely, with only the Netherlands open until Wednesday, Türkiye until Friday, Russia until 10, and Portugal and Greece until 15.
