Pogba leaves Monaco after just one season

Paul Pogba has become a free agent after Monaco agreed to terminate his contract by mutual consent.

The 33-year-old joined Monaco in the summer of 2025 after leaving Juventus and completing an 18-month doping suspension. His contract was originally due to run until June 2027, but both parties decided to part ways after the club concluded that their initial objectives had only been partially achieved.

Pogba struggled to regain his fitness and match sharpness following his lengthy absence from competitive football. He made just six Ligue 1 appearances last season, starting only once and playing a total of 115 minutes.

The midfielder has also been troubled by injuries, including a recent left thigh strain and a knee problem during pre-season.

Despite his limited involvement, Monaco praised Pogba's professionalism and experience, while the former France international thanked the club and its supporters for their backing.

Now without a club, Pogba faces an uncertain future, with a move to the Middle East or the United States potentially offering his next opportunity to continue his career.
