Promising Ajax youngster was quick to accept loan move away: ‘Youri Baas is simply doing too well’ | OneFootball

Dies Janse and Groningen have proven to be an excellent match so far. As Freek Jansen of VI reports, the Ajax loanee explained his move after the win over FC Utrecht.

“I got a taste of playing at the highest level a few times last year,” said the 19-year-old defender. “That was great, and this year is the next step to experience that every week. With FC Groningen, I get that chance, and then I have to show my talent, myself. I knew that wasn’t possible yet at Ajax.”

“Youri Baas is doing really well, and when Ko Itakura was brought in, it was clear that playing time elsewhere was best for my development. We’ve had some good discussions about that. Then you start looking at a loan period, and FC Groningen comes as a great club to do that.”

Tonight, Janse will watch Ajax’s return to Champions League action against Inter Milan from his Groningen apartment. “I’ll definitely send a message to guys like Youri Regeer and Youri Baas, who I played with, to wish them luck. Hopefully, it’ll be a great night for Ajax against Inter.”
