Prosecutors shelve probe into access to the villa of Xabi Alonso in Igeldo

Prosecutors have shelved a criminal investigation into the alleged illegality of vehicular access to the villa of Xabi Alonso in Igeldo.

According to Diario Vasco, the probe was opened after a complaint by two environmental groups alleging the access was unlawful.

The courts still have to decide on the substance of the case, specifically whether the building licence for the house was unlawful.

That licence was appealed and remains before the judiciary.

The prosecutors’ decision relates only to the criminal investigation.
