Paris Saint-Germain have made an unusual move, paying €3.3m to secure first refusal on Braga midfielder Mario Dorgeles, Foot Mercato reports. The payment does not bring the Ivory Coast international to Paris now.
The arrangement is framed as a right of preference, giving PSG priority if Braga choose to sell the 22-year-old. Braga’s latest accounts state the preference spans 100% of the player’s economic and sporting rights in any future sale.
Dorgeles arrived in Portugal in summer 2025 from Nordsjaelland for €11.5m. A Right to Dream graduate, he delivered 7 goals and 4 assists in 39 games in his debut season.
His minutes have been more limited early in 2026-27, yet his reputation remains strong. PSG’s move suggests they anticipate his value could rise and reduces the risk of being outbid later.
Arsenal and Chelsea tracked him in Denmark, with Newcastle and Brighton also credited with interest. PSG’s priority position places them ahead of those Premier League admirers.
There are institutional ties too, with Qatar Sports Investments holding 29.6% of Braga. The link does not mandate transfers, but it has provided a clear pathway for a complex deal.
Dorgeles stays in Portugal for now under Braga’s guidance. The preference clause offers PSG a safety net rather than a transfer guarantee.
