It is almost certain that Ferran Torres will leave Barcelona before the summer transfer window closes at the end of the month. The 2026 World Cup final matchwinner has already informed the club that he wants to leave, with his desired destination being back-to-back European champions Paris Saint-Germain.
Barcelona are open to letting Torres leave, knowing that he has less than a year remaining on his contract. The intention is to get at least €65m from PSG, but with talks already underway, it is unlikely that the Catalans will be able to get the price up to this.
According to Fabrizio Romano, PSG are closing in on a full agreement for Torres, having sent their opening offer to Barcelona. Talks are said to be in the final stages after the Catalans received a proposal with a €50m package, which may end up being enough given that the player is determined to be reunited with Luis Enrique in the French capital.
If it does turn out that €50m is enough for PSG to get their man, it would be an excellent piece of business. Signing a player that has scored 40 goals over the last two seasons at that price would be considered a bargain within the Parisian offices, with their belief being that a deal would be worth €70-80m had the Spain international had more than a year left on his Barcelona contract.
From a Barcelona perspective, it would be somewhat disappointing to receive only €50m for the sale of Torres. They would be taking a loss on the €55m they paid to Manchester City in January 2022, but more than that, they know that he is a better player that some of the one that have gone for bigger fees in the last 12-18 months.
