FC Bayern is being linked with PSG’s top prospect, Ibrahim Mbaye. After the Munich club reportedly expressed interest in the 18-year-old offensive talent, Paris Saint-Germain now appears to be open to a sale in principle. However, the Champions League winner is asking a hefty price for the youngster.

FC Bayern continues to scout for Europe’s top talents. Most recently, Ibrahim Mbaye of Paris Saint-Germain has come into focus. The 18-year-old can play on either wing and is considered one of France’s most promising young players.

Earlier this week, it was reported that the Munich club had already made contact and signaled its interest to both the player and the club.

As Sports Illustrated now reports, the situation in the transfer negotiations could be changing. Following the signing of Maghnes Akliouche from AS Monaco, PSG is reportedly willing to let Mbaye go if a suitable offer is made.

PSG is asking for up to 50 million euros.

Mbaye himself is also said to be dissatisfied with his current playing situation in Paris. The youngster is reportedly hoping, above all, for regular playing time at the highest level.

However, the young French player would not come cheap. According to Sports Illustrated, PSG is asking for between 40 and 50 million euros for Mbaye. His current market value is estimated at around 30 million euros.

For Bayern, this would be a significant investment in a player who, despite his great potential, is still at the beginning of his professional career.

Bayern faces stiff competition

Should Max Eberl and Christoph Freund actually make a move, the Munich club would by no means be alone. Among others, Liverpool FC, Chelsea, and Manchester United are reportedly showing interest. From the Bundesliga, Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen are being mentioned as potential suitors.

A move to Munich this summer, however, seems rather unlikely. Bayern officials have recently emphasized on several occasions that their squad planning in terms of new signings is essentially complete.

A transfer fee of up to 50 million euros, in particular, hardly fits with this strategy at the moment. Nevertheless, Mbaye is likely to remain an interesting prospect for the future. In recent years, Bayern Munich has repeatedly sought to bring top international talent to Munich at an early stage. Should the price or the squad situation change, this transfer could therefore become a more concrete possibility again.
