Reigning French and European champions, PSG start 2026-27 chasing a 15th Ligue 1 crown, a sixth in a row, with Ferran Torres fronting a reinforced attack.

According to L'Équipe, they regroup after a 1-0 loss to Lens in the Trophée des champions, with Luis Enrique again armed with depth.

Mika Godts and Maghnes Akliouche join Torres, currently Ligue 1’s three costliest arrivals. They raise competition for Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye, recently left out.

PSG moved for Torres the week after their second European title, paying just under €50m to Barcelona. The 26-year-old needs time to regain sharpness, though Enrique signalled he would not wait long to use him.

Enrique said he fits their needs, is versatile across the front and has the right mentality. A world and European champion with Spain, Torres scored the winner in the 1-0 World Cup final against Argentina. Across the past two seasons he has 40 goals in 94 club games, one of only two Spaniards to reach 40, alongside Lamine Yamal on 42.

After winning the UEFA Super Cup, Enrique has 13 trophies early in his fourth PSG season. Four have escaped him, the 2024 Champions League, 2025 Club World Cup, 2026 Coupe de France and 2026 Trophée des champions.

Lucas Digne’s start against Lens was his first PSG game in more than eleven years, the club’s longest gap between appearances.

PSG have Ligue 1’s fourth-youngest squad at 24.5 on average, a policy from the hierarchy and Enrique to drive collective and individual growth.
