PSG’s Ligue 1 opener against Rennes will not be played at the Parc des Princes. The fixture has been switched to Roazhon Park after the Paris pitch was deemed unsafe.

The LFP said in a statement that the surface at the Parc could not guarantee player safety. Its competitions commission, meeting on 19 August, ruled the game could not be staged there. With PSG unable to secure a back-up venue, it accepted Rennes’ guarantees to host on Sunday 23 August at 20:45 and ordered the fixture to be reversed.

As a result of the inversion, PSG will now host Rennes on the weekend of six March.

For the trip to Brittany, PSG will be without Portuguese defender Nuno Mendes. He is suspended for three matches after his late dismissal in the Trophée des champions loss in Lens, 1-0, on Sunday.

PSG have already played two official games this season away from home, the Trophée des champions and, four days earlier, the UEFA Super Cup. They won the latter 2-1 against Aston Villa in Salzburg, Austria.
