Rafa Rodrigues has joined Al Ain on a permanent deal, ending his time at Benfica. The 24-year-old left-back has signed a contract running to 2030.

Record writes that Benfica will receive 2.5 million euros for 60% of his economic rights. He had been on loan with the United Arab Emirates club and earned a full transfer.

A Seixal academy product, he was part of the side that won the Youth League in 2021/22, capped by a 6-0 final win over Salzburg.

In 2024/25 he also spent time with AVS SAD, continuing his career away from the Benfica first team.

The deal adds to Benfica’s drive to generate income from academy players while preserving the core structure of the senior squad.

His departure comes as B team captain Gonçalo Oliveira is set to join Rennes for about 3.5 million euros, in a move that includes a buy-back clause.
