The prosecution has requested a 10.5-year prison sentence for Rafa Mir over aggravated sexual assault and injuries. His lawyer, Jaime Campaner, said they remain calm.
The case returned to the spotlight on Thursday night when the request became public. According to Las Provincias, the proposed term comprises nine years for aggravated sexual assault with carnal access and 18 months for injuries, alleging he inserted his fingers without consent on two occasions.
Mir, currently an Elche striker, is represented by Campaner.
Campaner described the filing as the procedural step they had anticipated to begin an efficient defence.
He added that the trial is expected in the coming months, with no date yet set.
