Diario AS said lawyer Jaime Campaner, representing the Elche CF forward, has confirmed the sentence sought by the prosecution and expressed calm about the process. He added this was the procedural step they had awaited to mount an efficient defence.

The request comprises nine years for aggravated sexual assault with penetration, plus 18 months for injuries, taking the total to 10 and a half years.

A trial is expected in the coming months, though a specific date has not yet been set.

Mir’s legal team are preparing their strategy while the case attracts significant attention, given he is an active player in the elite of Spanish football.
