Rangers face needing to fork out a huge amount to have a chance of landing Sheffield United hitman Ryan One this summer, according to journalist Luca  Bendoni.

In the Scottish Premiership, Gers star Youssef Chermiti left the field against Hibernian in the 32nd minute of the game at the weekend and it was later confirmed that the Portuguese will miss a big part of the season due to an ACL injury.

Rangers are now in the market to find a replacement for Chermiti and they are looking south of the border to find a solution.

Sheffield United’s 20-year-old centre forward has been on Rangers’ radar for a long time and last month it was suggested that the Gers were closing in on him.

However, it was later revealed Rangers have not advanced in a deal to secure One’s signature, but in recent days they have decided to explore that avenue.

Not wasting time, the Glasgow giants made contact with Sheffield United for the young striker and held initial talks regarding a move.

Derek McInnes’ side offered to take One on loan from the Championship side but saw their offer being promptly rejected by the Blades.

It has been claimed that Sheffield United are not open to a departure of One in the ongoing window unless his suitors come up with such a substantial offer than it cannot be refused.

Sheffield United consider the young Scottish striker as part of their future and they have received enquiries from several clubs this summer for him.

One spent the second half of the last season on loan with then League One outfit Lincoln City, where he managed to find the back of the net on five occasions in 16 league games.

Rangers recently strengthened their forward department as they agreed a deal with PSV Eindhoven for Couhaib Driouech, who has been expected to finalise his arrival today.

There has been the prospect there could be some delay to Driouech having his arrival confirmed though and it is unclear when it will happen.

They are also looking to add more quality to their right-back department with Club Brugge star Hugo Siquet a possible addition.
