Rayan Aït-Nouri has been sent home from Algeria’s training camp with immediate effect, a decision taken by head coach Brahim Hemdani.

The move comes during Algeria’s first gathering under their new manager. The left-back, capped 33 times, will return to his club, Manchester City, earlier than planned.

No reasons were set out, with the statement confirming his release from the current camp and his return to club duty.

L'Équipe notes that local outlets have suggested the 25-year-old was dropped because of his behaviour during the 3-1 win over Zambia, the opening 2027 AFCON qualifier.

Footage circulating showed the defender looking frustrated after being sent to warm up twice without coming on, an attitude that may not have pleased Hemdani.
