RB Leipzig are waiting for Brighton & Hove Albion to decide on Brajan Gruda’s future after the winger told the club he wants to stay beyond the summer. Both parties are keen to continue working together following the end of the 22-year-old’s loan.
“We have received clear signals from Brajan that he wants to stay with us,” said RB Leipzig managing director for sport Marcel Schäfer, speaking to Bild.
“We also want that and value him highly. Now we're waiting for a signal from Brighton & Hove.”
A permanent move is complicated by the fee Brighton are expected to seek, thought to be well above €20 million, which is beyond Leipzig’s reach this summer. “It's clear that we have strict financial limits,” Schäfer said.
Extending Gruda’s loan is therefore viewed as the most realistic option, potentially including an obligation to buy next season. Brighton paid a reported €31.5 million to sign him from Mainz in 2024.
