The future of Marc Casado will one of the key aspects for Barcelona heading into the transfer deadline day.

The Spaniard has been identified as surplus to the requirements in Catalonia, with Hansi Flick happy with his current cohort of midfielders.

This has led to widespread speculation over Casado’s future, with various clubs across Europe keen on acquiring his services.

Real Betis not an option

The most recent club to have been linked with a move for Casado was Real Betis.

Reports earlier this afternoon had suggested that Los Beticos were weighing up a late move for the midfielder and had even made contact with Barcelona.

However, those rumours have been put to bed by Matteo Moretto, who suggests Casado is not an option for Real Betis.

It appears the La Liga outfit are not interested in a move for the young midfielder, though Moretto has not given any particular reason as to why the club have not made an approach.

It could be that Barcelona are ideally keen on sealing a permanent transfer for the midfielder with some amount of control over his future. Initial reports had suggested that Real Betis would only be interested in a loan deal.

What are Casado’s options?

With just over 24 hours remaining, time is running out for Casado to find a new club this summer.

The midfielder has been on the radar of multiple Saudi Arabian clubs, but the player has made clear that he wants to remain in Europe and play at the highest level of football.

That leaves us with Bayer Leverkusen and Besiktas as the only possible suitors for the Spaniard heading into the transfer deadline day.

Unfortunately, both the club are unlikely to be able to meet Casado’s lofty valuation, without making some amount of sacrifice over the control of the player’s future.

This has been the great choke-point for various clubs including RB Leipzig so it will be interesting to see what the future holds for Casado over the next 24 hours.
