Real Madrid are primed for a busy summer under José Mourinho, with a major move emerging at left-back. According to Fabrizio Romano, there is a verbal agreement between the clubs, and with Marc Cucurella, who is to sign a six-year contract.

More than four additions are anticipated, with Konaté and Dumfries already sealed for centre-back and right-back. Last season Madrid spent 167 million on four signings, Huijsen, Carreras, Mastantuono and Trent.

Cucurella, 27 and 28 in July, is contracted to Chelsea until 2029. The Espanyol academy graduate, who passed through Barcelona, has also drawn interest from Barcelona and Atlético Madrid. Barça view him as plan B to Joao Cancelo, while Diego Simeone would like him for Atlético.

Chelsea paid 65 million to Brighton in 2022, so any transfer fee will be high. A year ago Madrid paid 50 million for Carreras. If the young left-back does not depart, Fran García would need to make room and raise funds, especially with Mendy injured for almost all of 2026.

With Cucurella giving the green light to a Bernabéu switch, attention would then turn to midfield, with Bernardo Silva the first target.
