Régis Le Bris has hailed Kyril Louis-Dreyfus’ hands-on role in securing Malick Fofana on deadline day, and kept Brentford selections under wraps. The Sunderland head coach said the episode reflected the club’s commitment at key moments.

According to Sunderland Echo, Sunderland completed a £31million move for the Lyon winger after a late tussle with Crystal Palace, with Louis-Dreyfus travelling to Lyon as talks peaked. Fofana finalised the switch then arrived on Wearside on Wednesday.

Le Bris said the chairman’s involvement typified a willingness across the organisation to do what was required when the stakes were highest. He described going all the way as a natural step to make the difference.
