Sunderland deals in the balance as Danso arrives and Fofana call looms | OneFootball

With two hours remaining, Sunderland’s late business hangs in the balance, though Kevin Danso has arrived as the fourth summer signing. According to Sunderland Echo, Danso has joined on an initial season-long loan and his deal includes an obligation to buy, contingent on performance.

It is understood the clause will trigger if Sunderland stay up, with about £22 million due in addition to the loan fee. The Austria defender completes the defensive unit and adds depth for Régis Le Bris.

Elsewhere, Sunderland remain in a deadline-day tussle for Malick Fofana after Crystal Palace attempted a late hijack. The winger has had a medical in Lyon so either club can finalise once he decides. Signs are positive for Sunderland, but a resolution is still pending.

Talks have also been held over Benfica winger Dodi Lukébakio. The clubs are broadly aligned on a fee of about €19 million, but head coach Marco Silva is reluctant to approve an exit, so the move cannot proceed for now.

Outgoings remain possible. Abdoullah Ba has interest from Sivasspor in Türkiye and Alan Browne from Preston North End, though neither is agreed. Confirmation is still expected on Simon Adingra’s initial loan to Ajax, which includes an option to buy and a loan fee of about £3 million.
