According to Sunderland Echo, Danso has made 128 appearances for RC Lens and 52 for Spurs, and has 36 caps for Austria. He is also a Europa League winner with Spurs.
He said Sunderland’s rich Premier League history appealed after growing up in England, and he wants to pass on his experience on and off the pitch. He noted the club have European football this season and believes anything is possible, adding they want to see how far they can go.
Danso expects to settle quickly, having faced several team-mates in different countries and in the Premier League. He knows Florent from their time together at Lens, which he said was an important factor in his decision.
Director of Football Florent Ghisfolfi, who previously signed him at RC Lens, said the defender will bring strength, character and know-how, plus depth in defence. He added that Danso offers vast experience in domestic and European competitions and arrives for a historic season in Sunderland AFC’s history.
