Rennes ‘to hold talks’ with Lazio over Boulaye Dia | OneFootball

Rennes are exploring a move for Lazio forward Boulaye Dia, with the player keen on returning to France, according to La Lazio Siamo Noi.

The Senegal international was born and raised in France and left in 2021, moving from Stade Reims to Villarreal. After one season in LaLiga, he joined Salernitana, emerging as one of 2022/23’s revelations with 16 Serie A goals.

Dia moved to Lazio in summer 2024 on a two-year loan that includes an obligation to buy for €16 million.

He has looked comfortable in Marco Baroni’s 4-2-3-1 when operating behind Taty Castellanos, but has struggled for goals when leading the line in the 4-3-3 used by Maurizio Sarri last season and confirmed by Gennaro Gattuso this term.

Rennes will also compete in the Europa League this season.

He may not be the only forward to depart before Tuesday’s deadline. Gennaro Gattuso has already announced Petar Ratkov’s imminent exit after Sunday’s win over Genoa, while the hierarchy are urging Matteo Cancellieri to accept a move to the Ligurian club.
