There are multiple reports Maurizio Sarri will be the next coach of Atalanta, but Sportitalia suggest he could be replaced at Lazio by Gennaro Gattuso.
Sarri has made no secret of his frustration with President Claudio Lotito and the various ongoing situations at the Stadio Olimpico, from the fan boycott to the transfer embargo and player sales he did not agree with.
Although Napoli were mentioned, it seems as if he is heading to Atalanta, as numerous sources over the last few days have been confident he is working out the final details with La Dea.
It should be a two-year contract with option for a third, wages at €3m per season plus bonuses.

Now Sportitalia transfer pundit Alfredo Pedullà suggests that his replacement could be an unexpected figure.
Former Italy coach Gattuso is a free agent after failing to qualify for the 2026 World Cup and it’s reported he has been in contact with Lazio to discuss a potential role on the bench.
There are other alternatives for the Aquile, such as current Atalanta boss Raffaele Palladino, which would make it effectively a swap between the two clubs.

Fabio Pisacane is also mentioned in case he does not continue at Cagliari after his debut Serie A season.
