Leeds United are saddened to learn of the passing of former forward Alan Peacock, aged 87.

The England international joined the Whites in 1964 after a fine spell with hometown club Middlesbrough, with whom he scored 141 goals in 238 games across a decade of service on Teesside.

Peacock would go on to help fire Leeds to the second division title, before playing an important role the following campaign as Don Revie’s side reached the FA Cup Final and finished runners up in the top-flight.

During a three-year stint in West Yorkshire, the striker netted 30 times in 65 appearances across all competitions, before joining Plymouth Argyle.

Peacock was capped six times for England and scored three goals, though the forward sadly missed out on a place in the 1966 World Cup squad due to a serious knee injury.

The thoughts of everyone at Leeds United are with Alan’s friends and family.
