Manchester United and Chelsea are reportedly among the clubs to make contact via intermediaries over Brentford striker Igor Thiago.
The Brazil international was in prolific form for the Bees last season, scoring 25 goals in 40 games in all competitions.
It seems Man Utd, Chelsea, Tottenham, and Bayern Munich are among his suitors, but their enquiries have been shut down as Brentford have no intention of selling, according to TEAMtalk.
Thiago could no doubt shine at a bigger club, based on what we saw from him in the Premier League in 2025/26, but it makes sense that Brentford want to keep hold of him for as long as possible.
Still, we also know that the London outfit have tended to cash in on their star players when bigger teams have come calling in the past.
Thiago could make sense for Man Utd this summer after a slightly unconvincing first season at Old Trafford from Benjamin Sesko.
The Red Devils don’t have much of an alternative to Sesko, with Joshua Zirkzee out of favour and perhaps likely to leave the club this summer.
Chelsea would also surely benefit from offloading flop strikers Liam Delap and Nicolas Jackson and bringing in Thiago as an upgrade.
However, the 25-year-old seemingly won’t be available, and in truth he might do better to wait one more season anyway.
We’ve seen more than a few one-season-wonders in the Premier League, so Thiago could do with proving himself with another strong campaign in 2026/27.
If he does that, clubs will surely come back in for him, and Brentford might be more willing to cash in on him after getting more top performances out of him first.
