Alessio Romagnoli is still waiting for his move to Al-Sadd to be finalised, and talk of a Lazio return has surfaced.

“First and foremost, the negotiations have slowed down following the death of the former Emir, after which a period of national mourning was declared across the country. On top of that, there is the issue of the war: recently, an oil well in Qatar was attacked.” He was speaking to Chiamarsibomber.com.

“As a result, the ministry responsible for overseeing sport has decided to allocate its resources primarily towards defence, considering it a higher priority than football. Consequently, football has temporarily taken a back seat.”

“The ministry is responsible for providing the budget to be invested in the transfer market, but that step has not yet been taken. As a result, Qatari clubs are currently unable to reach agreements with other clubs.”

“Al Sadd still want Alessio Romagnoli and the deal remains alive, but at present they cannot sign any transfer agreement until the budget situation is resolved.”

“I can confirm that he will undergo medical tests on Thursday. As for his future at Lazio, we’re not thinking about that at the moment. As I said, we’re waiting for news from the Qatari ministry.”

Romagnoli has one year left on his Lazio contract. A strained relationship with Claudio Lotito has fuelled expectations of an exit after he bid farewell to fans in a video during a demonstration earlier this month.
