Romain Saiss received a warm ovation on his return to Molineux before Wolves’ final Premier League home game ahead of their drop to the Championship, with relegation sealed last month. They still visit Burnley to finish the campaign, which concludes an eight-season stay in the top flight.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, minutes before kick-off against Fulham the former player was led out and paraded around the pitch, acknowledging all four sides. Fans had already shared photos of him near the Compton training base over the weekend.

Saiss joined Wolves in 2016 and played a major role under Nuno as the club won the Championship. He went on to make more than 100 Premier League appearances before leaving in 2022 to sign for Besiktas.

He has since played in Qatar and Saudi Arabia. The purpose of his Molineux visit was not clear.

Saiss departed in 2022 after reportedly turning down a new contract, and it was claimed he was unhappy with the offer, while then chairman Jeff Shi did not move on it. In his farewell message he described it as an honour to wear the colours, thanked team-mates he considered family, and said he would remain a Wolf forever.
