Ron Gourlay has underlined that Carlos Corberán will stay in charge at Valencia despite a grim run, with the team out of the Copa del Rey and only one point above the relegation places.

According to Superdeporte, the club’s football CEO repeated the message across a press conference held to review the winter window, adding that he maintains confidence in Corberán.

He said the coach is often the easy target in football, accepted his share of responsibility, and insisted the staff and players must keep working together. He stressed that the club needs stability and should continue on this path.

Questions about Corberán dominated, yet Gourlay did not alter his stance, repeatedly backing the manager’s continuity. He also stated that he will continue in his role.

When pressed on whether there is a limit with Corberán, the Scotsman grew impatient and fell back on a stock line that Corberán is the coach. He repeated that the squad of 25 must climb the table, that the coach has a contract, and that he trusts both coach and players to improve positions.

He also made clear that, should a dismissal ever be decided, he would take that decision himself without needing approval from Singapore.
