Russell Martin says Leicester City need another goalkeeper after Jakub Stolarczyk’s ACL injury left Alex McCarthy and Franco Ravizzoli as his senior options.

Stolarczyk said in a post that he had undergone successful surgery. The academy graduate was hurt in the win over Plymouth and will miss the rest of the season.

McCarthy started the 4-0 defeat by Oxford United last weekend, while Ravizzoli, signed from Blackpool this summer, has yet to make his debut.

Martin said he is largely happy with his squad, but thinks they need another goalkeeper to cover Ravizzoli and McCarthy, with youngsters behind them and Stevie Bausor out on loan at Slough Town.

City have already made four free-transfer additions in Conor Chaplin, McCarthy, Ravizzoli and John Lundstram. Asked about using the free-agent market again, Martin repeated his satisfaction with the group but accepted a need for extra goalkeeping cover.

Several unattached goalkeepers are available, including former West Bromwich Albion keeper Joe Wildsmith, Brazilian Neto and ex-Tottenham academy player Joshua Oluwayemi.
