According to L’Équipe, Saint-Étienne are set to confirm the arrival of Valenciennes goalkeeper Gautier Larsonneur (25) on a two-and-a-half year deal – Larsonneur’s will be moving to his third club this season. After starting the season with Brest, the player was loaned to Valenciennes, then subsequently recalled and signed in a permanent €1.6m move to Saint-Étienne.
The player was under contract at Brest until 30th June 2024, but Saint-Étienne are set to announce his arrival this Friday. Larsonneur played in 18 matches during his spell with Valenciennes so far this season, managing to keep seven clean sheets in Ligue 2 in the process. For his now-former parent club Brest, the 25-year old has made 141 appearances across Ligue 1 and Ligue 2, managing to keep 42 clean sheets since coming through the academy.
Les Verts can add Larsonneur to their ranks after also signing Gaëtan Charbonnier and Nantes defender Dennis Appiah in a desperate effort to reinforce their squad to avoid the drop to the semi-professional third tier. Saint-Étienne currently sit 20th in the league, six points from safety.
