Kerr scored on her return to action against Aston Villa in September, having not featured since January 2024.

The Australian has been eased back into action, but has scored seven goals in all competitions despite her limited minutes.

Sam Kerr on returning to form at Chelsea

Speaking to Chelsea’s official website, Kerr said: “I’m getting back to my best level.

“Every time I went out onto the pitch in the few games before Christmas, I scored or assisted. I think now it’s just down to playing time, and I’d obviously like to be on the pitch as much as possible.

‘Every week, I can feel myself getting better and better. During the Wolfsburg and Liverpool games, I felt like myself again.”

Kerr netted against Wolfsburg in the Champions League, before netting a brace against Liverpool in a 9-1 League Cup victory before the winter break.

On her return against Aston Villa in September, Kerr reached 100 goals for Chelsea in a memorable comeback for the 32-year-old.

Kerr said: “I don’t think anyone expected me to score in my first game back, but I have such high standards for myself that even though I’d been out for so long, I did expect to score.

“To be honest, I probably would have preferred my 100th goal not to be in my first game back. There was so much going on at once. Every goal is important to me, so it did feel like a relief, but it’s also kind of just what I do.”

Kerr is yet to start in the WSL

Kerr will be hoping to get more of a chance in the second half of the WSL season.

She has made 10 appearances in the league this season, however, all of which have come off the bench.

In total, she has played 221 minutes. She has enjoyed more time in other competitions, starting in each of Chelsea’s last three Champions League outings.

Chelsea face an uphill challenge to win the WSL title, as they sit six points behind Manchester City.

Sonia Bompastor’s side face a tricky run of fixtures coming up, which could make or break their title chances.

Chelsea host Arsenal on January 24th, before travelling to Manchester City on February 1st.

The Blues also face Crystal Palace in the FA Cup on Saturday, before facing Manchester City in the League Cup on Wednesday.
