Santos said in a statement they have acquired a sports facility on about 700,000 square metres in São Vicente to develop a new academy training centre. The deal was secured through an agreement with Saint-Gobain in exchange for commercial and advertising assets.

The operation had the support of São Vicente’s city hall to help complete the transaction.

Club president Marcelo Teixeira underlined the importance of the acquisition to Santos’ assets, calling it a major step in the academy training centre project. He said the area will be used to expand and modernise the club’s sporting infrastructure and described the move as a landmark for the current administration and the club.

Gustavo Siqueira, Saint-Gobain’s vice-president for HR and Public Affairs in Latin America, described the agreement as another step in a long-standing relationship with Santos. He added that sport can transform society and voiced confidence the partnership will aid the club’s future projects.

Next, the club will conduct the applicable environmental studies and procedures, including the CETESB process and securing the necessary licences and authorisations.

To fund construction, Santos are structuring a dedicated investment fund to finance the project’s implementation. The model is in development and will be presented once the project’s technical details are consolidated.
