Leeds United are set for further squad movement as Sebastiaan Bornauw edges towards the exit after posting a farewell message to supporters.

Leeds Live reports that Hamburg SV are expected to sign the 27-year-old as he returns to Germany, replacing Luka Vuskovic after the defender went back to Spurs then joined Brighton. Bornauw arrived last summer for around £5 million and made only five Premier League starts, most coming when injuries hit the back line.

On Instagram he thanked fans for welcoming him, called Leeds a special club and said he cherished nights at Elland Road, signing off with blue and yellow hearts.

Bornauw featured heavily in pre-season and impressed, yet Daniel Farke will not stand in his way. The head coach said Bornauw had the best points average when he started and could play across the defence, and that talks would continue in the coming days. He rates him very highly, could gladly keep him, but would respect a wish to leave given his professionalism.

Leeds are also set to sign Switzerland centre-back Nico Elvedi from Borussia Monchengladbach, with a fee of about £8 million expected.
