Sunderland are assessing summer reinforcements after a fine Premier League campaign, safe from relegation and still with an outside shot at Europe.
According to Sunderland Echo, a shortlist produced by X’s AI chatbot Grok highlights seven European-based players as the club weigh up options in attack and defence. Regis Le Bris has forged a robust back line, yet extra depth and goals remain priorities.
Strasbourg striker Joaquin Panichelli, 23, has 16 goals in 27 Ligue 1 games and a deal to 2030, a powerful focal point. Toulouse centre-back Charlie Cresswell, 23, is a regular noted for aerial strength and calm distribution.
Utrecht left-back Souffian El Karouani, 25, offers overlaps and assists. Como creator Nico Paz, 21, has 10 goals and six assists in 29 Serie A outings, bringing vision and versatility.
Braga’s Rodrigo Zalazar, 26, is a productive winger or No 10 with 15 league goals plus assists and tireless work. AZ Alkmaar forward Troy Parrott, 24, has 14 goals and four assists in 23 Eredivisie matches, adding pace and flexibility.
Ajax winger Mika Godts, 20, has 14 goals and nine assists in 26 league games, a dynamic wide option. Sunderland’s recent continental recruits, including Noah Sadiki, Robin Roefs, Nordi Mukiele, Brian Brobbey and Granit Xhaka, show how the model could pay off again.
