Sevilla have confirmed the signing of Robbie Ure, but a proposed deal for George Ilenikhena has collapsed after Al Ittihad changed stance.
According to Sacha Tavolieri, financial difficulties at the Saudi club led them to scrap a loan and demand a permanent transfer worth 25 million euros, ending Sevilla’s pursuit and forcing a rethink.
Sevilla had planned to finish their forward rebuild with Ure and Ilenikhena, and an agreement was close. The striker still wants a return to Europe, but that has not kept the move alive.
The 19-year-old viewed a switch to the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán favourably after time at AS Mónaco and a February move to Al Ittihad for 33 million euros. His name will not join a unit featuring Isaac Romero and Ure.
Ure’s arrival is official on a contract to 30 June 2031, the Scot joining from IK Sirius after prolific form in Sweden. He becomes José Ignacio Navarro’s first attacking addition.
Standing 1.89 metres, he came through Rangers and also featured in Anderlecht’s youth set-up, scoring 31 in 50 league games across the past two seasons. Sevilla still need another striker before the window closes.
