Joselu Mato, 36, is back on the LaLiga radar, with Sevilla accelerating plans after it was confirmed he will not extend his stay in Qatar.

Estadio Deportivo reports that José Bordalás’s Getafe have lodged a firm offer for the striker, who also has proposals to return to Deportivo La Coruña and Deportivo Alavés.

Joselu’s reputation remains strong after a long career that includes Celta and Real Madrid academies, plus spells in Germany with Stuttgart and Hannover and in England with Swansea, Stoke and Newcastle.

His peak came in 2023/24 at Real Madrid, scoring 17 goals and a decisive brace against Bayern Munich to reach the Champions League final. He then joined Al-Gharafa, where he has 28 goals in two seasons, and will be a free agent on 30 June, offering a cost-free option who could add aerial presence and a winning mentality.

Sevilla’s roadmap is tempered by financial needs and potential big sales. Akor Adams and Juanlu Sánchez are viewed as the most lucrative assets, alongside the Swiss duo Djibril Sow and Rubén Vargas.

Adams is attracting interest and Sevilla accept it will be hard to keep him, having set an asking price above 20 million euros. In parallel, the recruitment team are advancing alternatives, with Joselu and the younger Adrián Liso prominent to lead the line.
