According to Glorioso 1904, Benfica have no intention of negotiating Leandro Barreiro’s sale with Al Ittihad. The midfielder is seen as indispensable and the club will not enter talks.
The Saudi club have shown interest and are tracking his situation in this window. Its chief executive is Domingos Soares Oliveira, yet Benfica offered no opening when approached.
Barreiro is considered central to Marco Silva’s plans and to the structure led by Rui Costa. He has cemented his place, and the club believe a departure would weaken the squad, so they are not even entertaining a move.
Al Ittihad’s financial strength and Domingos Soares Oliveira’s influence in the process have not shifted the stance. Leandro Barreiro is not on the market.
The priority is to keep him at Luz for the 2026/27 campaign. Any attempt to take the Luxembourg international to Saudi Arabia is, for now, being rebuffed.
