Sevilla are reshaping their sporting structure, with Álvaro Negredo in line for an expanded role in the academy. Ivan Rakitic has re-emerged on the radar after ending his stint with Hajduk Split.
Zona Mixta reports that Negredo will join the Sevilla Atlético coaching team next season after working with the Juvenil A last term. Meanwhile, ABC de Sevilla states that Rakitic’s contract at Hajduk expired on 30 June.
Negredo’s brief with the B team is set to focus on specialist work with the strikers. The former Spain forward began his coaching pathway last season in División de Honor with the club’s Juvenil A.
He first signed for Sevilla in 2009 from UD Almería for about 15 million euros, quickly establishing himself under Manolo Jiménez. Across 180 competitive appearances he scored 85 goals.
His contribution was pivotal to the 2009/10 Copa del Rey, then 20 LaLiga goals in 2010/11 earned him the Zarra Trophy. After spells at Cádiz and Real Valladolid, he retired in 2024.
Rakitic has indicated he would return to Seville at short notice if asked, and remains open to help where needed. There is currently no formal contact, but his exit leaves a possible comeback in play.
