Kieran Dowell had reportedly been offered to the Blades in the latter stages of the window
Sheffield United have reportedly rejected a transfer reunion with Hull City's attacking midfielder, Kieran Dowell, as Chris Wilder searches for a last-gasp Callum O'Hare replacement.
That is according to the Sheffield Star, with the Blades' 2025/26 Player of the Year closing in on a high-profile transfer to Championship rivals, Wrexham.
After an extremely frustrating season last time out, this summer hasn't been one of optimism whatsoever at Bramall Lane due to a winless start to the league campaign under Chris Wilder, as well as a well-documented legal dispute between COH Sports and former owner, Prince Abdullah.
Only five additions have been made to the squad this summer, with the latest of those being the return of Hamza Choudhury from Leicester City on Monday afternoon, with the Bangladesh international the second player to return to this part of the Steel City in a matter of days after Ben Brereton-Diaz was signed from Southampton.
Dowell, meanwhile, has struggled for opportunities at the MKM Stadium since arriving in January, but will not be making a late-window switch across Yorkshire.

Dowell, of course, provides plenty of experience in the Championship, having played 136 times at the level, scoring 27 times and providing 12 assists.
The 28-year-old was a part of Wilder's side which finished second in 2018/19, having joined on loan from Everton, before going on to ply his trade for Norwich City, Rangers and now Hull.
The playmaker was signed on an 18-month contract by Sergej Jakirovic in January but has only scored twice in 16 appearances - the majority of which have been as a substitute.
Despite netting the second of those last week in the EFL Cup triumph against Stoke City, it has been widely reported that Dowell has been made available for a transfer, but despite being offered a reunion with the England youth international, United have turned it down and switched their attention elsewhere.

It has been reported that Hull are exploring loan options for the experienced Dowell, as he is one of several fringe players currently at risk of not making Jakirovic's 25-man squad, having been omitted from the squad against Coventry City on Saturday.
"I had (a) conversation with Kieran, a very honest conversation," said the Hull boss. "This is the problem about the 25 (man-squad).
"He will try to find something and we also try to help him find a loan that he can play this season."

With O'Hare's move to North Wales reportedly set to cost Wrexham £7m, United have already been linked with other late-window raids of their own.
One of those is for Barnsley ace, Reyes Cleary, who registered 20 goal contributions in 30 league matches for the League One side last term, including a goal from his own half against Bradford City.
