Six arrests after OL-Fenerbahçe as tear gas used in Champions League play-off | OneFootball

Disturbances marred OL's Champions League play-off second leg against Fenerbahçe on Wednesday night, which the visitors won 2-1, as police made six arrests and used tear gas.

According to L'Équipe, 450 officers first intervened in the Fenerbahçe away section after the visitors' second goal, responding to thrown objects and a crowd movement, then formed a column at pitchside to back stewards at full time.

Police then used tear gas outside the away section to push back an attempt by Turkish supporters to leave early, in line with standard holdback procedures. They used it again on the forecourt to disperse Lyon fans heading towards opponents in the VIP zone.

Of the six arrests, at least one resulted in custody on suspicion of carrying a weapon, specifically a knife. One individual was detained after trying to enter the pitch during repeated provocations by Mattéo Guendouzi.

In addition, four fines were issued for the use of pyrotechnics. No further details were given.
