Sochaux supporters have offered beds to travelling Lens fans after their Coupe de France tie, set for 21:00 Saturday, was pushed back to 14:00 Sunday because of heavy snow.
According to L'Équipe, at least 800 Lens supporters were expected and many were already on the road when the postponement was announced. The last-32 tie is at Sochaux, who play in National.
RC Lens urged supporters to head home, citing persistent weather uncertainty, with authorities to decide on Sunday whether spectators can be admitted. The club invited fans to abandon the trip as a precaution.
Sochaux remain hopeful the match can go ahead with a crowd, including visiting fans. The away section will remain open if any Lens supporters still make it.
Many Lens fans are staying in Franche-Comté overnight in the hope of attending. The #HebergeUnLensois hashtag has prompted locals to offer accommodation, while a Soyons Sport Facebook appeal drew close to 1,000 comments by around 19:00 on Saturday.
Sochaux fans have put up spare beds and some supporters from both clubs plan raclette gatherings. The initiative is bringing the two sets of fans together.
