Spain name Nations League squad with four new faces | OneFootball

Spain have announced their 26-man squad for the opening UEFA Nations League fixtures.

Coach Luis de la Fuente included four new names: Inter Milan goalkeeper Josep Martínez, Real Madrid defender Dean Huijsen, Barcelona midfielder Fermín LópeZ and Espanyol striker Roberto Fernández. The latter is the standout surprise after scoring six goals in his first six La Liga appearances for the Catalan club.

World Cup winners Joan García (knee injury), Marcos Llorente (retired from international football), Gavi and Borja Iglesias (fitness issues) were omitted. Fermín returns after missing the tournament through injury, while Martínez joins Unai Simón and David Raya in goal.

De la Fuente, who kept most of his World Cup-winning group intact, unveiled the list from Ceuta in a show of support for the Spanish city amid its migration crisis. Spain will wear two stars for the first time when they face England at Wembley, before hosting Croatia and the Czech Republic.
