Sunderland ‘agree’ Lucas Bergvall deal claims dismissed | OneFootball

Football Insider reports that Sunderland submitted an offer for Lucas Bergvall and agreed a deal, with Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest also credited with interest. However, it is understood no agreement is in place.

Bergvall would be a highly ambitious addition for Régis Le Bris’ side. The 20-year-old is valued at around £50million and, given his age and profile, Tottenham are likely to seek the strongest terms.

The midfielder joined Spurs from Swedish club Djurgården in 2024 and later signed a long-term contract running until 2031, leaving the London club in a strong negotiating position.

Bergvall can play across central midfield and is regarded as one of Sweden’s standout prospects. His age, technical quality and potential resale value appear to align with Sunderland’s recruitment model, and further quality is expected before the window closes.

Thomas Meunier remains the club’s only senior arrival at the time of writing, while Florent Ghisolfi has signalled a more measured approach after last summer’s extensive overhaul.
