Sunderland expect a hectic deadline day, with Florent Ghisolfi driving multiple moves before tonight’s 11pm cut-off.
According to Sunderland Echo, an initial loan for Kevin Danso is well advanced and it would now be a surprise if it did not get done. With game time likely limited, he told Roberto De Zerbi he wanted to leave, and Spurs first needed a replacement. A provisional agreement for Tosin Adarabioyo means the signs are positive.
Danso, previously signed by Ghisolfi at RC Lens and later pursued for AS Roma, would complete Sunderland’s defence and add top-level experience.
A winger remains a major priority. Sunderland pushed for Marseille forward Igor Paixao, but the Ligue 1 club currently do not want further exits. A late change is not impossible, while Arsenal’s surprise move for Lyon’s Malick Fofana makes them favourites.
Ideally a versatile forward would also arrive after Eliezer Mayenda’s summer exit, though that remains uncertain. Outgoings are planned to trim costs and find minutes, with interest in Luis Hemir from Clermont Foot and in Abdoullah Ba from the Turkish club Sivasspor.
Alan Browne appears likely to go, though no acceptable offer has landed despite strong interest from Preston North End and other Championship sides. Simon Adingra is also set to leave, with a loan to Ajax agreed, and the hope is that regular football will rebuild confidence as he nears fitness.
Further movement cannot be ruled out, and Sunderland tend to be busy on deadline day.
