Sunderland will have a front-of-shirt sponsor for 2026-27 despite online rumours after the sponsorless home shirt reveal, Sunderland Echo reports.

The Black Cats unveiled their new Hummel home kit on Tuesday without any branding across the chest. The clean look was well received, but it prompted speculation they could play the season without a main partner.

That will not be the case. The club has indicated a new sponsor will be confirmed in due course, though the identity has not yet been disclosed.

During the away kit launch, the club confirmed that supporters who buy shirts before the announcement will have the option to add the sponsor later. Practical details will follow once the partnership is unveiled.

Launching the kits without branding appears to reflect the timing of the agreement rather than a deliberate move to go sponsorless. The date for the reveal remains unclear and the company has not emerged.

The deal comes ahead of a significant campaign, with Sunderland will compete in the Premier League and Europa League. Growing commercial income remains central to the club’s wider plans as Florent Ghisolfi and Régis Le Bris prepare for the added demands of European football.
