Sunderland transfers: Transfer deadline, Le Bris comments and possible deals | OneFootball

Sunderland are pushing to add to Régis Le Bris’ squad before the 11pm Tuesday deadline as they prepare for a first Europa League campaign.

According to Sunderland Echo, last summer’s window underpinned a seventh place Premier League finish and a first European qualification since 1973, with AC Milan and AZ Alkmaar to come.

Three signings are in: Belgium international Thomas Meunier on a free transfer, France Under-21 player Dayaan Methalie, and Royal Antwerp midfielder Jules Ahoka. Anthony Patterson and Eliezer Mayenda left for Wrexham and Stade Rennais, with several others also departing.

Le Bris praised the strong core after the Fulham win, saying he trusts the group’s energy. He added they would look to add one or two if it helps.

A loan move for Tottenham defender Kevin Danso was rejected, though talks have reportedly resumed. The former Lens player has told Roberto De Zerbi he wants to leave before the window shuts.

Sunderland remain keen on Marseille winger Igor Paixao and Roma forward Matias Soule, with Newcastle also interested in the latter. A £34.2m bid for Paixao was reported this month and the Brazilian is understood to be open to the move, but no agreement is in place. Jocelin Ta Bi is close to a loan to Burnley after recent interest in England and France.

Clubs have until 11pm on Tuesday to finish business. A deal sheet can be filed after 9pm, giving two additional hours to submit the full paperwork.
