Sunderland’s spending on agent fees has risen fivefold since promotion, to £10,627,772, yet it remains among the lowest in the Premier League.
The FA released data for February 2025 to February 2026, covering the two windows after Wembley promotion and a series of renewals. Sunderland had paid £2,170,045 in the previous Championship season.
Only Burnley, £7,357,902, and Everton, £9,990,374, spent less. Fellow promoted Leeds United paid £13,990,935.
Spending at clubs around them was far higher. Bournemouth paid £20,883,523, Brighton £19,520,800, and Newcastle United just over £20 million.
Chelsea topped the list on £65,102,247, with the division’s total reaching £460,300,308.
The totals reflect 17 signings across the year and fees tied to new deals for Trai Hume, Eliezer Mayenda, Luke O’Nien and Chris Rigg. They include any transaction involving an FA-registered intermediary.
