Who takes the top prize for having the noisiest home venue in England, Scotland and Wales?

If there's one topic that will invariably promise to spark debate and split opinion, it's the small matter of who has the best - and worst - atmosphere in the EFL and beyond.

Be it in the Championship, League One or League Two, you can find cauldrons of noise and some of the emptier and quieter stadiums the country has to offer in equal measure.

As we will come onto, we're all familiar with some of the stronger atmospheres provided in the EFL pyramid - which is why Football League World has decided to look outside of the Football League sphere.

How do some of the best atmospheres in the Championship, for example, compare to those in the Premier League and even the Scottish top-flight? Are there certain lower league clubs who can make more noise than fanbases right at the very top of the domestic footballing food chain?

With that in mind, FLW has ran the rule over the 22 noisiest grounds to be found in Britain as a whole...

22 ? ? St Mary's Stadium - Southampton

Getting us underway is Southampton's St Mary's Stadium, where one of the stronger atmospheres in the Championship can be conjured up when Saints fans are in the mood.

There's every chance that St Mary's would be hosting Premier League football once again come August if Southampton had not been expelled from the play-offs owing to the now-infamous 'Spygate' saga - though it's exactly that which will inspire a siege mentality at the club next season and could make this part of the south coast an even louder visit for travelling supporters.

21 ? ? Valley Parade - Bradford City

A raucous home atmosphere has been the heartbeat of Bradford City's recent rise, which has seen the Bantams return to League One before making it straight to the play-off semi-finals last time out.

Valley Parade is among the larger stadiums in the third-tier and the numbers are always accompanied by an almighty racket, with Bradford making their West Yorkshire home a noisy old fortress in recent times.

20 ? ? Home Park - Plymouth Argyle

It's a second successive League One outfit to make the cut in the form of Plymouth Argyle, who bring one of the EFL's most revered atmospheres both home and away.

Perhaps helped by just how far the majority of visiting sides have to travel when making the trip to Home Park, the Green Army are loud and proud and rarely fail to provide a hostile atmosphere regardless of where they are playing - and Tom Cleverley will hope the Argyle faithful continue in strong voice all season long as he looks to direct a promotion charge next time out.

19 ? ? Etihad Stadium - Manchester City

The first Premier League team to feature, there's an argument to be had that Manchester City's home support can actually be underrated at times.

Despite the narratives pertaining to 'plastic fans' and 'tourist supporters', the Premier League juggernaut are still strongly-backed by a fiercely-loyal contingent who have seen the Cityzen's rise to becoming a global superpower - and there's often plenty to cheer about at the Etihad Stadium, which means that it's not as quiet as many expect it to be.

18 ? ? CBS Arena - Coventry City

Frank Lampard will need Coventry City supporters to be the proverbial '12th man' throughout the upcoming campaign as he bids to re-establish his side in the Premier League, with the Sky Blues faithful having made the CBS Arena a loud and imposing place to visit during the title-winning term last time out.

We saw huge noise, numbers and a real party atmosphere once Coventry wrapped up promotion, and the atmosphere in this part of the West Midlands will be up there with the loudest at top-flight level next season.

17 ? ? Molineux Stadium - Wolves

Replaced in the Premier League by Coventry, Wolves will be returning one of English football's most vociferous and intimidating home atmospheres to the Championship for the first time in eight years next season.

It's aggressive, intense and in-your-face, with away supporters only able to create a limited racket in the unconventional lower tier of the Steve Bull stand across the side of your pitch in comparison to Wolves' booming South Bank behind the goal.

16 ? ? St Andrew's @ Knighthead Park - Birmingham City

Birmingham City's upwards direction of travel under ambitious owners Knighthead has brought a feel good factor back to the blue-and-white quarters of the Second City, and you get the sense of that when you rock up to St Andrew's @ Knighthead Park these days.

Attendance figures have soared over the last couple of seasons despite one of those being spent in League One, with an intimidating and boisterous feel putting travelling fans on the back foot once again - and it will be interesting to see exactly how Bluenoses retain or even elevate the noise once their proposed 2031 switch to the new 60,000-seater Powerhouse Stadium is completed.

15 ? ? The Den - Millwall

In terms of raw and aggressive atmospheres, few come finer than the unique atmosphere that Millwall can bring to The Den when they're up for it.

It's notorious and for good reason, and record attendance figures have gone hand-in-hand with an increase to the Lions' old-school atmosphere as Alex Neil's side continue to push for promotion to the Premier League - even if somewhat-inconsistent levels of noise relative to how loud it can be prevent an even higher ranking.

14 ? ? Old Trafford - Manchester United

Divisive in Premier League circles, the atmosphere at Old Trafford can greatly vary dependent on the team's fortunes and when feeling but, at its best, the bottom line is that not-too-many fanbases can match how loud and proud many Manchester United supporters are.

Of course, not everybody at Old Trafford is there to make noise on matchday - but those who are do so to great effect, and the Stretford End atmosphere reverberates throughout the iconic 74,000-seater stadium when fans want it to.

13 ? ? Pride Park - Derby County

One of the loudest stadiums in Britain simply has to be Pride Park, which Derby County fans have continued to make a consistent cauldron of noise across a rollercoaster-esque recent history.

Few EFL stadiums can boast a larger capacity and, as all the best fanbases do, Derby marry up the noise with numbers - unvarying high attendances are accompanied with passionate and booming volume from the South Stand, which is situated next to away supporters and promises to serve up an exceptional matchday atmosphere.
